COR INFANTIL SANT CUGAT

ELISENDA CARRASCO & ORIOL CASTANYER, conductors

Sant Cugat Children’s Choir was founded by Martí Marin, Elisenda Carrasco and Oriol Castanyer in 1991, and performs regularly all over Catalunya and Spain. In 1995 the choir started its activities all around Europe, visiting in different tours France, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Germany, Belgium, Finland, Estonia, Great Britain, Canada,  Czech Republic, Turkey,etc.

  

The choir has participated in several opera performings such as the B. Britten’s “The little sweep” at the St. Cugat Auditorium (2007) and Barcelona’s Liceu Theatre (2009, 2010), the F. Krása’s “Brundibár” produced by the Liceu Theatre  (2008) and Andrea Basevi’s “I musicanti di Brema” (2011, 2012).

 

Sant Cugat Children’s Choir has recorded several CDs, such as “Fantasia de Nadal” (1994), “Supermusics” (1996), “La volta al món amb les nostres cançons” (1999), “Musica religiosa” (2002),  “Pop Hits” (2004) and “Music from the XX-XXIth (2009).

 

Some of the awards received by the choir are the Silver Diplom in Giessen (Germany, 1997), the 4th and 2nd prizes at the International Music Festival in Cantonigròs (Catalunya, 1999, 2000), the 3rd prize at the 37 Certamen Internacional de Tolosa (Basc Country, 2005), Silver Diplom at the Cantemus International Choral Festival in Nyíregyháza (Hungary, 2006), the 3rd prize at the International Choral Festival in Malgrat de Mar (Catalunya, 2007) and the Gold Medal and Best Children’s choir Award at the Cantemus International Choral Festival in Nyíregyháza (Hungary, 2008), the 3rd prize at the 41 Certamen Internacional de Tolosa (Basc Country, 2009), and the Gold Medal and the Cantemus Foundation Prize at the Cantemus International Choral Festival in Nyíregyháza (Hungary, 2010).

 

The Sant Cugat Children’s Choir has received good reviews wherever it has performed from wellknown conductors as Mr. Christian Wagner, Mr. Erkki Pohjola, Mr. Kari Alla Pöllänen, Mr. Dénes Szabó...
