COR DE CAMBRA DEL PALAU DE LA MÚSICA
SIMON HALSEY, conductor

The Cor de Cambra, the chamber choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana, is one of the most prestigious professional choirs in Spain. It was established by the Orfeó Català in 1990 with the mission of disseminating world choral music, fostering the revival of the Catalan musical heritage and encouraging new work. Jordi Casas i Bayer directed the choir for the first 21 years and Josep Vila i Casañas was the lead director from September 2011 until September 2016, when Simon Halsey was appointed to the post.
The extremely high vocal and artistic quality required of each of its members gives the ensemble a potential which has enabled it to transcend borders and become an international benchmark for chamber choirs. The Cor de Cambra has been conducted by great maestros such as René Jacobs, Marc Minkowski, Kent Nagano, Simon Rattle, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim, Cristophe Rousset and Vladimir Jurowski, among others.
Since 2010, the ensemble has been a member of the European Network for Professional Chamber Choirs (TENSO). During the 2015-16 season, the choir performed on tour with Les Musiciens du Louvre, conducted by Marc Minkowski.
