Cor de Cambra Anton Bruckner (currently Cor Anton Bruckner) was founded by Sergi Moreno Lasalle in the autumn of 2003, and during its first years of existence, the choir was focused on performing Baroque repertoire.

 

In January 2007, direction of the choir was taken over by Josep M. Mindan and Júlia Sesé, who worked together to broaden the choir's repertoire and change its focus to 20th-century music. In September 2009, Josep Ramon Oliver joined the team, and shared conducting duties with Júlia Sesé for the following three years. During this stage, the choir worked on a capella programmes and orchestral-choral music. Notable concerts were performed at the Vilafranca Music Hall, Petit Palau and Tete Montoliu Hall at L’Auditori de Barcelona, as well as in Paris and Strasbourg. Conductors such as Manel Valdivieso, Pere Lluís Biosca and Pablo Larraz worked with the choir during this period.

In May 2011, Cor Anton Bruckner obtained second prize at the International Choir Competition in Malgrat de Mar, and during the following year it collaborated with organist Juan de la Rubia performing the J.S. Bach motets Jesu meine Freude and Komm, Jesu, Komm, as well as A. Dvořák’s Mass in D.

 

From September 2012, Júlia Sesé became the choir's sole director. In October 2012, the choir won second prize at the eleventh Antonio José National Choral Contest (Burgos, Spain), and a year later a Special Mention at the Musiquem Lleida festival. Together with the Orquestra Terres de Marca, conducted by Josep M. Mindan, and the Catalan National Youth Orchestra (JONC), conducted by Manel Valdivieso, they celebrated the choir’s tenth anniversary with a performance of Anton Bruckner’s Mass in e minor. In July 2014, Cor Anton Bruckner joined Coral Sant Jordi and Coro Gaos from A Coruña in performing Tallis' forty-voice motet Spem in alium. Later that same year, the Choir obtained second prize at the 34th Choral Contest Fira de Tots Sants in Cocentaina, Spain.

 

March 2015 brought four performances of Mozart’s Requiem at the Santa María del Mar Basilica and the Palau de la Musica Catalana, with Albert Santiago conducting. Later that year, the Choir performed the coral parts in the Catalan opera Magda, premiered in Barcelona in September 2015 with several performances around Catalonia, together with Cor Ariadna de l'Agrupació Madrigal. In October 2015, the choir received a masterclass from the prestigious American conductor Brady R. Allred, in preparation for the a capella concert that later performed in the Cicle Coral de l’Orfeó Català at the Palau de la Música Catalana in June 2016, to a sold out hall and with acclamation of audience and critics.

 

Cor Anton Bruckner is currently enrolled in the preparation of Handel’s Messiah production with Orquestra Barroca Catalana and in the future months it will participate in the production of E. Granados’ opera Goyescas with the Orquestra Julià Carbonell de les terres de Lleida under the baton of Alfons Reverté. In july 2017 it will participate in the 11th World Symposium on Choral Music that will be held in Barcelona as pilot choir for Helmuth Rilling’s masterclass.
